Preemptive Oil Spill Beach Cleanup Response Team

I would like to form a completely volunteer emergency crisis team, partnering with Pinellas County to be ready if the oil heads this way. Pinellas county is currently in desperate need looking for help to clean and prepare beaches ... Read morebefore the oil was to ever move toward Tampa Bay due to a tropical storm or change in weather.
To assist in oil cleanup beaches must be clean of trash and debris which has hampered oil soill clean-up's in the past.
How does it work? If the Pinellas County needed our help they are going to contact me as one of the team chiefs for the county, I would then send a mass email out to anyone who would like to help. We would go as a team to a beach or island on foot or by kayak to do our best to prepare the beaches for cleanup.
After the cleanup process is done, IF the oil touched the beaches BP and government officials would take over. We would not be involved in any active oil cleanup.
Just an idea to try to be ready. You can never be to prepared!

Crystal River/Homosassa Springs Manatee Snorkel
I've done this 3 times with Sunshine River Tours and it is an awesome experience. It is best to do in the 'winter' season around January, because that's when it's highly concentrated with manatees.Posted by:

Kayak & Manatee Snorkel
Kayaking out from one of many possible locations in Crystal River, we would paddle to Three Sisters Springs and snorkel with manatees. Motorized boats are not allowed back into the springs so it's peaceful. Best in the winter months ... Read morewhen the manatees come to the 72 degree spring water. We would drive everyone over in nice vans (saves gas money), visit the drive through safari, spend a few hours there, then hit the beach for some fun in the sun. By 4 our hotel rooms would be ready for check-in, spend the night and we could drive back the next day.
We can get awesome group rates for the safari if we have at least 12 people going.

Sunset sail Kai Lani 50' Catamaran
Big cat Deck is big enough for a dance. Carries I think about 30 - 40 people. Dolphins, sunset, beer & wine. Good photo ops.
