Learn to cook famous New Orleans Cuisines including Authentic Cajun Sausage, Chicken, and Shrimp Gumbo over a bed of steamed rice with a side of hot crispy french bread, then top it off with famous Bourbon Pecan Pie for dessert.
Louisiana Gumbo: Of all the dishes in the repertoire of Louisiana cooking, gumbo is undoubtedly the most famous. One of the oldest dishes in Louisiana and a source of culinary pride as far back as there are written records, in modern times it has become as much of a cultural symbol of Louisiana as jazz or the bayou. Even more so than jambalaya or red beans and rice, it is ubiquitous in restaurants, at special events, and in homes of all classes throughout Louisiana. Included in this dish will be the original Sassafras leaf discovered by the Choctaw Indians who inhabited the South East U.S.
Bourbon Pecan Pie aka Dark Rum Pie: People love nuts, and the pecan is a favorite of many. Nuts are almost a staple during the holiday season. Whether it be in a bowl with a nut cracker, put into the holiday turkey stuffing, or in a delicious pie such as this one. Of course the flavor of the bourbon in this pie, is a palate pleaser as well. The good part is you get all the flavor of the bourbon, but don't need a designated driver. As most cooks know, the alcohol does cook off leaving a warm and sweet flavor that tastes heavenly. A perfect dessert for the upcoming holidays!
