If you are buying lift tickets you may want to get a two day pass instead of three and skip this day. To fill the evening Mindy and I will be booking the night cycling activity offered at Winter Park Resort. It starts at 5pm, lasts three hours and involves riding bicycles with skis instead of wheels down the slopes until about 9pm. That will pretty much fill the day with a nice break for lunch/nap in the middle if you want to join us.

The two most common destinations for the longer rides are 12,000 foot Vasquez Mountain and Church Park. The summit of Vasquez Mountain features a spectacular 360 degree view of Grand County, the Continental Divide, the Indian Peaks and Vasquez Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park. You can actually look down into the Vasquez Cirque at the Winter Park Ski Area. http://www.trailblazersnowm...

I just found out that one of the most beautiful train trip in North America is the 2 hour ride on Amtrak's California Zephyr - from Denver to Fraser/WinterPark as you climb to the sky through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. $40 a tix, departs @ 8am. I'm interested.

It was the picture (above) of the kid going down the mountain on the big inner tube that convinced me. I figure if I start out horizontal, I'll be way ahead of the game! (The hot tub looks good, too.)
